Cricketer Tamim Iqbal inaugurates Galito’s outlet in Dhaka

Galito’s, the popular flame grilled piri-piri chicken restaurant chain, officially launched its maiden outlet in Bangladesh on 22 January 2023. Captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team, Tamim Iqbal Khan; Tranz Ventures Limited Managing Director, Tahmina Ahmed; Directors Sheikh Zaheen Ahmed and Namira Ahmed; General Manager Mirazul Islam; and the CEO and Director, Seven Rings Cement, Sheikh Raihan Ahmed inaugurated Galito’s first-ever outlet, in a grand ceremony, said a press release.

Over the past decade, popularity for healthy piri-piri grilled chicken had been skyrocketing among foodies across the country. Tranz Ventures Limited decided to bring to Bangladesh the international food chain Galito’s from South Africa, the land of piri-piri.

As a brand, Galito’s started its journey in 1996 in Mbombela, a small town in South Africa. Since then, in the last 27 years, Galito’s has gradually spread across the African continent and beyond. Currently, the brand has more than 230 franchise outlets in 17 countries.

Originally made from a special type of pepper, lemon juice and several secret spices of the country of Mozambique, Galito’s main attraction is the flame-grilled chicken marinated for 24 hours with piri-piri flavours. Not a drop of oil is used at any point in the preparation of the meat, making it a low-fat, low-cholesterol meal. The restaurant also offers a variety of delicious appetisers and side dishes, all prepared with high-quality, pure and fresh ingredients. Galito’s retains unmatched quality and promises health and taste in every flavoursome bite.

The ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal said, “Whenever I go to play abroad, I try to taste piri-piri chicken. To keep myself fit as a player, I always eat healthy and low-cholesterol food. This kind of food is very important for us. I believe everyone will love this healthy and delicious chicken recipe.”

Galito’s Gulshan outlet, located at Road 61, Gulshan 2, Dhaka (Opposite the Australian Embassy) might be the only one serving up delicious piri-piri chicken now, but one can expect to see many more branches across popular foodie destinations in Dhaka. The owners of the chain are hopeful that the spicy, tangy flavours will tickle the tastebuds of food enthusiasts in the city and newer restaurants will ensure that everyone can have their fill of real piri-piri, whenever the craving strikes.
